We hope you are all well and enjoying this academic year so far.
We all know student life isn’t easy, and we as a committee have felt this too. Over the last few months we’ve been juggling placements, academic assignments and trying to create wonderful things such as events for our fabulous members. We’ve also tried to fit in things like sleeping, family life and the occasional hobby.
However, we’re tired. We’ve been collectively struggling with spinning so many plates and now has come the time where we as a committee need to prioritise our university work. Many of the committee are in our third and final year, with dissertations to write and limited time left to learn everything we need to before we qualify.
What does this mean?
Hull University Nursing Society is no longer running.
We have met with the Students Union to highlight achievements, discuss struggles and to handover relevant information for a future committee to take the reins when the time is right. The decision to discontinue the society was not made lightly, but for the health of the current committee and with a lack of alternative options, it was the right one to make.
So what happens now?
As of this moment, HUNS is no longer an active society. That means that very shortly, you’ll notice our members Facebook group will become inactive, along with our social media accounts. Our website, however, will remain online for the time being, so do head over and have a browse through at your leisure, there’s some excellent content on there (http://hullnursingsociety.co.uk)!
On a more positive note, come January, the SU will be holding another WelcomeFest, and HUNS will be added to their “Adopt A Society” roster, so if you’d like to step up and take over, keep your eyes peeled for more info! The outgoing committee are working hard on an extensive handover pack to make sure you’ll have all the information you need to hit the ground running. If you have any questions about this, or your membership, please contact the Students Union directly: HUSU-Societies@hull.ac.uk.
We would like to send a sincere, heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you for making the society the fantastic community it has been, for your support in helping us to grow and thrive and for allowing us to join you on your nursing journey for the last eighteen months. It truly has been an unforgettable experience.
Many thanks, and with much love,
The Hull University Nursing Society Committee
